jr_na_2The 2010 Winter Olympics is being held in Vancouver, B.C. (Canada) They will take place from February 12th through the 28th. This year there are 82 countries participating in the 2010 Winter Olympics. The medal count for the USA is 34 medals total (Gold-8, Silver-13 and Bronze-13). Germany takes second place with 27 medals. Canada takes third with 21 medals. This year, there are 15 sports in the Winter Olympics. The ice sports include: bobsledding, luge, skeleton, ice hockey, figure skating (ice dancing), speed skating, short track speed skating, and curling. The alpine, skiing, and snowboarding events are alpine skiing, freestyle skiing and snowboarding. The following events are Nordic events: Biathlon, Cross country skiing, ski jumping, and Nordic combined. The following Americans have earned 3 medals in the 2010 Winter Olympics: Bode Miller (Alpine Skiing), Johnny Spillane (Nordic Combined), and Apolo Ohno (Short Track). These people have worked hard to achieve 3 medals in the 2010 Winter Olympics. Next, these athletes have earned 2 medals in the 2010 Winter Olympics: Shani Davis (Speed Skating),
